ZFM takes part in Casual Day at the Oasis Skills Development Centre

Today, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Maryna Basson, Acting Municipal Manager, Mr Alfred Tieties, Senior Management and employees of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality celebrated Casual Day with a wellness day programme that focused on creating awareness about people living with disabilities. Casual Day 2023 is celebrated under the theme “Share A Smile’.

The team started the day with encouragement from Mr Alfred Tieties and motivation on the importance of accepting each other and assisting where one can, but always to be considerate, compassionate and patient with those that need assistance.

The team then proceeded with a walk from the ZFM offices to the Oasis Skills Development Centre where they were welcomed with open arms and entertained with music and dance by the learners at the Centre. The Centre emphasised the importance of Casual Day which is celebrated annually. The day is aimed at raising funds for persons with disabilities and raising awareness about people living with disabilities.

During the Executive Mayor’s address, she said the District Municipality supports the work done by the Centre and recognizes the impact it has on the lives of the learners and parents. The Executive Mayor gave the learners gifts and provided vegetables to the Centre as a token of appreciation. Cllr Basson committed to continuously assisting in one form or the other to the Centre.

The Executive Mayor thanked the personnel under the leadership of the Acting Municipal Manager for participating in the programme and encouraged them to continue working hard and being kind to others inside and outside the workplace. The day was filled with fun, games and laughter for all those involved.
