ZFM hosts MEC Vosloo at Joint Political and Technical IGR

The ZF Mgcawu District Municipality today held its quarterly Joint Political and Technical Intergovernmental Relations Forum (IGR), chaired by the Executive Mayor, Cllr Maryna Basson. The IGR Forum serves as a critical platform where government departments, municipalities and stakeholders come together to align plans, share progress and strengthen coordination in service delivery.
The meeting was attended by the MEC for Education, Mr Abraham Vosloo, who presented the Department’s Multi-Year Education Improvement Plan. The plan focuses not only on improving the matric pass rate annually, but more importantly, on responding to the needs of learners and strengthening the overall schooling system

The presentation emphasised that the challenges within the education sector cannot be addressed by the Department alone and that meaningful stakeholder involvement is essential to achieve long-term improvements. The presentation was followed by robust engagements, where departments and municipalities discussed practical ways in which each sector can contribute towards the implementation of the improvement plan. Discussions highlighted the importance of strong stakeholder involvement through IGR, as well as the need for better planning, improved coordination and proper resource allocation across all spheres of government to ensure a greater and more sustainable impact on our communities. Through platforms such as the IGR Forum, government continues to work together to improve planning, strengthen partnerships and ensure that services delivered to our communities are coordinated, effective and responsive to the real needs of our people.
