ZFM District Rapid Response Team (RRT) on Gender-Based violence on the ground
The Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Cllr. Maryna Basson and the Rapid Response Team (RRT) visited key sites in the Kai !Garib municipal area, starting with the Princes Poffader Safe House in Keimoes. The visit wasn’t just about checking infrastructure; it was about understanding the heart of the work being done there to support vulnerable members of our community. Listening to the team on the ground gave real insight into their daily challenges and the impact they’re making.

From there, the team made their way to Neilersdrift Primary School in Lennertsville, where smiles lit up the playground as learners received brand-new school shoes and stationery. For many families, this small gesture meant a lot and for the children, it was a boost of confidence as they walked proudly into their classrooms. The day wrapped up in Keimoes with a meaningful sit-down with the new Station Commander. Strengthening partnerships between the community and SAPS remains a key priority and this meeting was a step forward in building safer spaces for everyone.
The work of the Rapid Response Team is vital in strengthening coordination and building trust by engaging directly with key stakeholders, such as SAPS, and visiting critical sites where interventions are most needed.
