ZF Mgcawu District Municipality Participates in Africa Day Celebrations
The ZF Mgcawu District Municipality proudly participated in the annual Africa Day celebrations hosted by the Department of Education, joining government departments and municipalities in commemorating the rich diversity, unity and heritage of the African continent. Africa Day is observed each year to celebrate Africa’s shared history, cultural diversity, achievements and continued pursuit of unity and development. The event provided an opportunity for participants to showcase the unique traditions and cultures of various African nations.

This year, the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality represented the Republic of Mozambique. Staff embraced the occasion by wearing traditional attire, preparing authentic cuisine and delivering choral performances of both the South African National Anthem and the African Union Anthem, creating a vibrant display of African pride and cultural appreciation. The District Municipality’s enthusiasm, collaboration and outstanding presentation were recognised during the event, earning the team the Best Teamwork Award.
The District Municipality remains committed to promoting social cohesion, celebrating cultural diversity and supporting initiatives that strengthen unity and mutual understanding among the people of Africa.
