Strengthening partnerships for sustainable growth
Today, a Special Joint Political and Technical Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) meeting convened, bringing together Mayors, Municipal Managers, representatives from various government departments and key private-sector stakeholders. The engagement provided a valuable platform for strategic dialogue and collaboration.

Presentations focused on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors, with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism outlining key priorities linked to the upcoming Provincial Investment and Jobs Conference. These discussions reinforced the importance of aligning local initiatives with broader provincial economic objectives. The meeting also expressed appreciation for the insightful presentation by INCA, which highlighted the role of long-term financial modelling in enhancing municipal financial sustainability and informed decision-making. Greystone IT Solutions further presented innovative digital platforms designed to provide Mayors and decision-makers with real-time oversight of municipalities across the district. The proposed systems aim to place critical information at leadership’s fingertips, enhancing transparency, accountability and more efficient reporting across governance structures.
The National Prosecuting Authority delivered a presentation underscoring the importance of coordinated, multidisciplinary approaches in addressing the tuckshop crisis. Emphasis was placed on the need for clear separation of duties and a shared understanding of roles and responsibilities among stakeholders. In line with its vision to serve the public through an effective, efficient and equitable administration of justice, the National Prosecuting Authority highlighted the importance of collaborative action to ensure that institutions execute their mandates in a manner that ultimately benefits communities.
As municipalities continue to navigate a complex economic environment, partnerships, sound financial planning, coordinated governance and technological innovation remain central to driving investment, strengthening accountability and ensuring sustainable service delivery for our communities.
