Site visit Upington CBD  

This morning, The Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality Councillor Maryna Basson, accompanied by Members of the Mayoral Committee, conducted a site visit to assess the recent sewage spillage in the Upington Central Business District (CBD). The visit aimed to evaluate the extent of the spillage, review the immediate response measures and develop a long-term plan to prevent future incidents. The spillage affected a significant portion of the CBD, disrupting local businesses and posing a public health risk. Emergency response teams from the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality were already on-site, working to contain the Spillage. Initial investigations suggest that the spillage was caused by a blockage in the main sewer line, exacerbated by food retailers draining fat products.
