Oversight visit in Kai !Garib Local Municipality
The Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Cllr Maryna Basson, ZFM Speaker, Cllr Stanley Peterson, and Members of the Mayoral Committee began a weeklong Oversight visit to the Kai !Garib Municipality today. The visit started with a briefing session at the Municipal offices. During this session, immediate actions were discussed to address challenges related to infrastructure maintenance, with a focus on improved resource allocations.
The Municipal Oversight visit to Kai !Garib Municipality saw an eventful series of activities aimed at addressing infrastructure challenges and assessing ongoing projects. The delegation, which included municipal officials and the technical director inspected a malfunctioning sewage pump station in Kakamas to understand the extent of the issues and to discuss possible solutions.
The faulty pump station has been a significant concern for residents due to its impact on sanitation and public health. Following the inspection, the delegation proceeded to Hashvalley to review the progress of the local paving project. The project, which aims to improve road infrastructure in the area, has been in progress for several months. The visit allowed officials to evaluate the quality of the work and to engage with the project. Positive feedback was noted from community members who expressed appreciation for the improvements being made to their local infrastructure. A critical meeting led by the Mayoral Committee and attended by the municipal Councillors focused on addressing pressing issues within the Municipality, including the ongoing challenges with infrastructure and service delivery.
