MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE PETROL BOMBING OF THE ZF MGCAWU DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY HEAD OFFICE
The ZF Mgcawu District Municipality can confirm that petrol bombs were thrown at the District Head Office situated at the corner of Dr Nelson Mandela Driveway and Upington 26 Driveway on the night of the 26th March 2021.
The building was guarded by security officials who immediately alerted the police. We thank our South African Police Service for their fast response which aided in stabilizing the situation. A case of malicious damage to property was opened and the Police are investigating the incident. We are grateful that none of our officials got injured during the incident and only minimal damage was caused on the balcony. The ZF Mgcawu District Municipality condemns any form of violence and lawlessness and will not tolerate malicious damage to government properties intended for use by the community. We are committed to supporting the South African Police Service to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
