MEC Vass engages housing beneficiaries

MEC Bentley Vass, engaged with beneficiaries of the Housing Projects at a packed Piet Thole Community Hall in Rosedale, in the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality in the ZF Mgcawu District. This is ahead of today’s official handover of some of the completed houses in the Dawid Kruiper Municipality.

The purpose of the engagement with the beneficiaries and communities is to inform them of the challenges encountered in the District, which led to the slow pace of delivery and the mitigating interventions implemented by the Department to ensure rapid delivery of houses going forward. The Department has terminated two of the three contractors appointed initially. More contractors have been appointed to bolster capacity.

The MEC is accompanied by MEC of Transport, Safety and Liaison, Limakatso Koloi, the Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District, Councillor Maryna Basson, the District Speaker, Councillor Stanley Peterson, and Executive Mayor of Dawid Kruiper Municipality, Councillor David Kazi, and other Councillors and local leaders. Some of the completed houses will be handed over to beneficiaries at the Rosedale 400 and Smarties 328 Housing Projects. These projects are part of the 1 Billion Rand Housing Project implemented across the ZF Mgcawu District.
