Heritage Day celebrated in Upington
Today, Executive Mayor Cllr. Maryna Basson delivered the vote of thanks at the Heritage Day celebrations held at Robert Gunda Stadium in Pabalello, Dawid Kruiper Municipality. On behalf of ZF Mgcawu District Municipality and the Dawid Kruiper community, she expressed gratitude to Premier Dr. Zamani Saul for his loyal support, to the MECs for their presence, and to all guests and community members who joined in the celebration. Her message reminded us that Heritage Day is about embracing our diverse cultures and traditions, respecting one another’s differences, and working together towards a better future.
The Executive Mayor also formed part of the delegation that officially launched the One Million Trees Campaign led by Premier Dr Zamani Saul and Members of the Executive Council, and the Mayor and Speaker of the Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality. History was made today in Upington as Schroder Street was officially renamed to Alfred Gubula Street as part of the Heritage Day programme. Executive Mayor Cllr. Maryna Basson, joined by the Premier, MECs, councillors, the Gubula family, and members of the public, celebrated this milestone in honour of a struggle stalwart whose legacy will live on in our streets and our hearts.
