Government Communicators Participate in GCIS Capacity Building Workshop

Government communicators from across the Northern Cape are participating in a Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) capacity building workshop currently taking place at the Desert Palace Casino in Upington. The training focuses on strengthening the development of integrated communication plans and enhancing the strategic communication capabilities of government communicators. The workshop aims to improve strategy development and communication planning skills, while ensuring that municipal communication plans are aligned with the Government Communication Policy.

It also seeks to strengthen coordination and collaboration among communicators at district level and improve the monitoring and reporting of communication activities. A key focus of the training is equipping communicators with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilise the Tracker Report as a strategic tool to inform communication messages, measure the impact of communication initiatives and support evidence-based planning. The capacity building session forms part of GCIS’s ongoing commitment to strengthening government communication, promoting collaboration across spheres of government and ensuring that communities receive accurate, timely and relevant information on government programmes and services.
