Executive Mayor’s Matric Message to the Class of 2023
The ZF Mgcawu District Municipality would like to wish the matric class of 2023 the best of luck during their final examinations. You are in our thoughts and prayers every step of the way. Our best wishes accompany you at the beginning of a new chapter in your life. You have put in the time, planning and effort to prepare for the exam, we believe this effort will bear fruit. However, we believe that after twelve years of teaching and learning you are well equipped to tackle these exams. It has been proven that not only is education the key to success, but education is also the answer to unemployment, poverty and inequality.
These exams are twelve years in the making and represent the culmination of your journey as a learner. For this reason, you must study hard and prepare yourselves to the best of your ability for the task that lies before you. As a young person in our country, you have an important role to play in shaping our societies and it starts here. As you do your final preparations for the exams, remember the inspirational words of wisdom of Nelson Mandela when he said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
This is a challenging period for educators, parents, grandparents, guardians and other family members as they form an important support structure. We urge parents not to exert unnecessary pressure on these young people, instead, parents should give them unconditional support that will help change their lives for the better. We ask that parents please bear with the children and create a conducive environment at home for them to study under relaxed and quiet circumstances.
You will discover that you were made to make a difference in this world. You are made to soar like an eagle and rise above all obstacles that life will through your way. Remember to grab all opportunities in life and do not let them go to waste. The strongest motivation is that you should be driven by the desire and determination to do well in your studies so that you can be equipped to take advantage of the opportunities that will come your way.
We, as the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, will keep you in our prayers. We are fully behind you. Make your parents, your school, and our entire District proud. May you have successful matric exams and good luck to all of you.
