Executive Mayor’s Covid-19 Awareness Roadshow
The Executive Mayor, Cllr Paulus Mgcera recently embarked on a Covid-19 awareness roadshow throughout the ZF Mgcawu District, visiting all the Local Municipalities with specific emphasis on assessing Police Stations and Health Facilities (Clinics). The Executive Mayor was accompanied by representatives from COGHSTA, Department of Education, SAPS and the Department of Health and they visited the facilities with the Local Mayors of each Municipality and their Management teams.
The following Police Stations and Clinics were visited:
1.Kai! Garib Municipality [Kakamas Police Station and Kakamas Clinic]
2.Dawid Kruiper Municipality [Paballelo Police Station and Gordonia Clinic]
3.!Kheis Municipality [Boegoeberg Clinic, Grootdrink Clinic and Groblershoop Clinic]
4.Tsantsabane Municipality [Postmasburg Hospital]
5.Kgatelopele Municipality [PPC Police Station, Danielskuil Police Station, Danielskuil Clinic]
The purpose of the roadshow was to assess the state of health facilities as well as the infrastructure available at key locations such as Police Stations.
During the visit to !Kheis the Executive Mayor on behalf of the MEC of Health, Honourable Lekwene officially handed over two Bakkies and one Ambulance to the Department of Health. The Executive Mayor together with Mayor Mashila and Speaker Elroy Phete of the Tsantsabane Local Municipality handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the Postmasburg Hospital which are crucial in keeping the healthcare workers currently on the frontline of the pandemic safe.
In each municipal area and with every audience the Executive Mayor emphasised the importance of non-pharmaceutical interventions, such as social distancing, wearing masks and regularly sanitising hands to prevent the spread of infection.
