District Council Holds Special Meeting in !Kheis to Address Local Challenges
On Friday, 23 January 2026, the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality convened a Special Council Meeting at the !Kheis Local Municipality, in line with a resolution taken in December 2025 to actively engage and address service delivery challenges within the !Kheis area. The meeting provided an important platform for open engagement, during which the Mayor of !Kheis, Cllr Davy Jacobs, presented a thorough and thought-provoking assessment of the issues affecting the municipality, offering a clear picture of the challenges experienced on the ground.
In response, the District Municipality committed to supporting the !Kheis Local Municipality and to work together to explore practical ways to mitigate these challenges, guided by cooperation, shared accountability and a people-centred approach. Ultimately, these discussions reaffirm that effective service delivery lies at the heart of local government, and strengthening collaboration is essential to ensuring that communities receive the basic services they depend on every day.
