Council approves Final Annual Budget 2026/2027
Today, the Executive Mayor, Councillor Maryna Basson, tabled the Final Budget and Integrated Development Plan of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality for the 2026/2027 financial year, reaffirming the District Municipality’s commitment to responsible governance, financial discipline and continued service delivery despite ongoing economic pressures facing local government across South Africa. The Budget reflects a focused and realistic approach aimed at protecting the financial stability of the institution while ensuring that communities continue to receive essential services. Cost-containment measures, careful spending priorities and sustainable financial planning remain central to the District Municipality’s strategy as it navigates a challenging financial environment.
In her address to Council, the Executive Mayor emphasised the importance of integrity, accountability and professional leadership as the current Council term approaches its conclusion ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections. She further called on all political parties to place the interests of communities first and to contribute towards a peaceful, fair and constructive democratic process.
