A heartfelt celebration of Motherhood and Womanhood
In a warm and spirited gesture of appreciation, the Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Cllr Maryna Basson, recently hosted a special Mother’s Day breakfast in honour of the remarkable women and mothers who serve within the District Municipality.
Held in celebration of not just a date on the calendar, but the ongoing contribution of women to our communities, the event was a powerful reminder that Mother’s Day is not confined to a single day in May. Rather, the appreciation of mothers and women must be continuous, echoed in how we support, acknowledge, and uplift them every day of the year.

The event brought together women from across the municipality in a heartfelt gathering that celebrated motherhood and womanhood in all its forms. It was a moment to pause and reflect on the unique roles women play not only in raising families but in shaping society and driving change within the very fabric of our communities. The atmosphere was filled with joy, unity, and deep gratitude, creating a space where bonds were strengthened and spirits renewed. Adding a deeply meaningful spiritual element to the occasion, special guest Pastor Rafisa delivered a motivational address that moved many in attendance. Her words offered encouragement and perspective, and she closed with a powerful prayer of blessing over all the women present, a gesture that touched hearts and uplifted minds.
In her closing remarks, the Executive Mayor reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to the upliftment of women from all walks of life, including the dedicated women who work within the institution. When we build the morale of women, we build the strength of our institutions, families, and communities,” she noted.
